GIORGI SISAURI

GEORGIAN CALLIGRAPHY
18 February– 6 March 2020

This exhibition is a demiurgic synthesis of Georgian calligrapher, artist, poet, and writer- Giorgi Sisauri. You will have the chance to see his initial letters, illuminated gospel manuscripts, Troparions, and a variety of secular texts.

In the presented works, one can clearly identify either widespread, or rarely used signs of Christianity and its conceptual accounts of thinking. Sacral geometry, cabalistic signs, and archaic esoteric symbols are just a short list of what is reflected in Giorgi's works through the plethora of colors and shapes.

Synthesis of modernity and archaic forms have always been an integral part of the unique style of Giorgi that has enabled him to create a “transnational alphabet” inspired by the Georgian art, and it does not require one to know and understand Georgian language or ancient Georgian visual art. Geometrical shapes of the artworks lead a path in understanding his spiritual quest, which deeply impresses viewers and helps them to delve deeper into their own spiritual depths and find the divine spirit within them.
